The Redwood story.
Redwood Capital was founded in Los Angeles by Ryan Kim after nearly six years inside the small-business lending industry. Working on the direct-funding side, Ryan saw the same thing over and over: good businesses taking whatever offer landed in front of them first, because nobody was shopping the market on their behalf.
So he built the company he wished those owners had been able to call. Redwood Capital sits on the business owner's side of the table. One dedicated advisor learns your business, takes your file to a network of more than 75 lending partners, and brings back the offers that actually fit — then negotiates the terms so you don't have to.
We named the company after the redwood for a reason. Redwoods grow tall because their roots grow together — each tree holding up the ones around it. That's how we think about funding: it's not a transaction, it's the start of a relationship that should still be standing years from now.

I started Redwood Capital because I'd spent years watching business owners get funded badly. Not because they weren't good businesses — because no one was in their corner. They'd take the first offer, stack a second one on top of it, and end up paying for capital they never needed.
Our job is simple: understand what you're actually trying to do, find the right product for it, and get you the best terms the market will give — whether that's a bank line, an SBA loan, or fast revenue-based capital. If the right answer is "wait," we'll tell you that too.
